Forum thread Participation Index
Hi, just realised going thru" the threads that if there was a BMW Forum thread Participation Index
then greater the BMW series number, greater is the lack of thread particiaption ..the 1 series are the most active, followed by the 3's and so on... you get the the drift..any idea why? Last edited by cruvon; 11-17-2010 at 02:12 AM.. |

the type of people who drive 1 series have too much time on their hands whereas most 3 series drivers have better shit to do with their lives than sit on forums

I reckon it comes down to age demographic as well. Usually younger people will be bigger embracers of technology and the internet... and it's usually younger people driving a 1 or a 3 than a 5, X5 or 7... ALSO there are more registered 1series on the roads than say 7series. So on a pure 'numbers' basis that adds to it aswell. |

I would think a part of it is because the ones lower down in the series are more new gadget/net and information savvy and that decreases with an increase in series..so the lower numbered series would be multitasking/updating their threads on their iphones, netbooks, etc on the go while doing serious stuff simultaneously while the rest as go higher up in the series(7?) at the other extreme would be mono tasking and staring into a crowd blankly in their spare time?

as one of the longer lingering people around here, i may as well give my view on this, as i've been active across most of the various bimmer forums over the past 4+ years
- e90post used to be massively more active (than it is now, along with more) than 1addicts, back in 06/07/08 when the e9x was the latest & greatest and we were all watching to see what each version would be upon it's release & so on... - 1addicts is going through a similar phase, once the 1er coupe & 135's arrived the interest peaked, like the e9x this will wane as the model gets older. I would expect the interest to peak again in the 3er world when the next model arrives. - Forums tend to get reinvigorated once the demographic of member structurally shifts, i.e. once the e9x's are well into the 2nd hand market where they are within the reach of 18-30odds who tend to have a lower budget point, between 20-50k, obviously the the coupes & cabrio's have a bit of a journey to go to get there, but it isn't far off. As such this is likely to occur in the years after the F30 lands, just have a look over at e46fanatics.com for evidence of this. (e46fanatics used to be as quiet as this place).
