Ermmm - Kerosene and diesel come from the same source - crude oil. As does petrol, heating oil, etc.

Different "weights" of product are created at various stages of the "cracking" process.

It's ALL the same source liquid though.

Yes but a barrel of crude oil doesn't create equal amounts of diesel, kerosene, petrol etc.

Off the top of my head, a barrel of crude oil makes -

Figures are based on 1995 average yields for U.S. refineries. One barrel contains 42 gallons of crude oil. The total volume of products made is 2.2 gallons greater than the original 42 gallons of crude oil. This represents "processing gain."

Will - I know the quantities are different. I was just pointing out the basic process to those saying kerosene and diesel are completely different.

Do lubricants include KY?

The thing to remember is that the UK does not have enough refinery capacity to produce enough diseasel to meet peak demand. We have to import the finished product from Yerp and that is expensive as its heavy and bulky.

You might ask why extra refining capacity hasn't been invested in, and its simple. The market makes more cash charging more for import and blaming fuel duty than if it coughed up for capacity.

No, KY is water based.

If you were to grab your jar of Vas, that would be different though.
