Sound system upgrade Best buy
Ok guys im thinking of getting a few subs from bestbuy since i can get a discount on their stuff since i have a family member who works for them. Im thinking of getting two of these Kicker - CompVR 12" Dual-Voice-Coil 2-Ohm Subwoofer. But I really dont know much of sound systems at all. I just know kicker is one of the best subs company. What amp can i pair it with? something like this Alpine - 1000W Class D Mono MOSFET Amplifier with Adjustable Crossover. BTW I have Logic 7 system in my car.

Kicker WAS one of the better companies but that was over 10 years ago. Now, they are just like the othe foreign made crap that's on the market with exception of a few amps. Does Best Buy sell the Alpine PDX amps? That might be a good place to start. As far as the subs, I know a lot of people like the Alpine subs but I couldn't tell you which exact ones or how good they are since I've never tried them. 2-12s in this car is quite a bit though. What exactly are you trying to accomplish?

Ok. Cuz I was thinking of going JL or Kicker. I checked online but didnt see any pdx amps from alpine. I want something with good bass nothing too crazy. Its not like I want ppl from the next neighborhood to hear me. But I want something that hits pretty hard and i figured one of those comp12s wouldnt do much. I might have to forget about the discount and try a solobaric L7 12" or something.

I had a L7 12"
Sounds like crap in a ported box But when i stuffed a beach towel to plug the port (ghetto I know) Sounded damn good Super tight Sold it, but I will at some point buy another one and build a nice wooden shelf that mounts to the ski hatch that fires straight into the car |

Dont feel bad kmarei. What you did is called an aperiodic design. It actually yields tight sounding bass by controlling the leakage or losses thru the port but can be somewhat low in efficiency. If you tune it properly it can yield superb bass.

I have the same box it is very nice and well built if you tell them what subs your putting in it they will match the internal volume to the reccomended volume for your subs. Also forgot to mention you need a wiring kit http://cgi.ebay.com/Rockford-Fosgate...item53e4b47d65
