Limited Slip differential on e92

Hi.

Anybody here have a aftermarket Limited slip diff installed? BMW only puts it in the M cars and that is such a shame. It would do wonders for our car or any rear wheel drive for that matter. I can't get the power transfer and traction that I want out of corners.

p.s. My car is still at the mechanic so looks like I wont be joining the Meet on Sunday. Sob Sob*

BMW have started welding the two halves of the differential housing together, which makes installation more difficult than when they were just bolted together.

I don't have one btw, but it gets good reviews. It could really do with a LSD.

Looking at one for the 330d Kaishang?

Our 330d LSD is welded type so I have to send diff to Southern BM to fit.

It would be very nice to have, but it's a bit of an extravagance. I may trade the 330d for a 530d or 535d in a year or two..

Yea... LSD is not cheap for sure. I might change it when car become out of warrenty.

One thing to note, LSD usually last longer than normal differentials without LSD. Due to the recent 'incident' with my X5, diff mechanics has explain to me that when u break traction where 1 wheel is spinning, u generate friction and wear stressing the diff therefore reduce the life of diff. So with LSD, there is very limited wheel spin so there is no wear.

Well... that is what I have been told anyway

Makes complete sense. Wonder why BMW went with the idea of not putting one in? Even in normal circumstances like getting up drive ways and ramps at an angle sometimes the rear inside wheel spins as is the wheel bearing the less load. I have to step on the gas hard for it to figure out what's it's doing and get up the ramp. Little things like that sometimes makes me want to get an Audi.

Not to mention the potential accidents that we can have when your outta wheel looses grip in a tight bend and you really need both wheels turning to get out of the bend before you hit something. I've had a few close calls.
