Renting an m5
Hey all. A few friends and I were thinking of renting an m5 for a day from company called Gotham Dream Cars. I was wondering if anyone has tried this or if anyone knows somebody who did. Seems like a real fun day for not too crazy a price. Here's the website: http://www.gothamdreamcars.com/index.htm

Smallest words, but most important. I always thought the same until I saw these words..
"All daily rentals include 100 miles / day. Weekly rentals include 500 miles / week. Additional Mileage is billed at $0.75 / mile" 100 miles? In an M5?? You'll be through those 100 miles in an hour or two.. I really wanted to rent some nice cars to test out. But 100 miles is so damn limiting IMO. Just wanted to point that out to you..

Thinking about it more/math.. I would probably want to drive it for at least 3-4 hours to be happy. Figure 70 mph (between going fast and going slow)
That's ~300 miles. Get three other people. Each do 300 miles 1200 miles - 100 original miles = 1100 miles * $.75 = $825 extra $825 + $700 = $1500 So maybe $300, 400 a person. Plus gas. Calculating this conservatively.. And I included a lot of driving.. Hmm...

I think if you got 2 or 3 friends it could be more cost effective. Doing it on your own is pretty damn expensive..
Now deciding who gets to drive first would be the hard part.. and could end up pretty ugly..

I'd rather spend $400 on a track day than driving an M5 around the street but that's just me

I think it has the Nurburgring in there too right? I think I read in BMW Magazine that people do a bunch of practice laps on their PS3, then do the weekend drives in their real cars for the full physical pounding of real driving. Sounds fun.

The only other hidden cost people are missing is and upgrade. After driving an M5 for the day, and getting back into your non-M 3 series, you're going to want an upgrade..
