Wheel advice needed for noob..
Hi, despite the number of cars Ive owned over the years, ive never actually gone and bought rims before. As such, I wouldnt have a clue where to buy them or what my options are.
Id like to get the BMW Star Spoke Alloys in style 287, ![]() So I have a few questions: - is there somewhere I can pick up the OEM 287 rims at a reasonable price in Aus? - or is there a good copy of the rims that will let me put the BMW logo center cap in to make them at least look genuine? - if I buy aftermarket rims can the TPMS system still be used? Thanks very much, Scott. |

http://tempetyres.com.au/ should give you an idea of price and whats available. They have a large replica bmw range, do wheel/tyre packages and send interstate at a small fee. I've never really used them though as i usually source my own wheels and tyres... but some people on here have given them the thumbs up review. Alternatively visit a local tyre shop near you.

are those wheels 287s or 189s? either way they are a bit 'conservative' imo.
If you want an OEM look why not the 230s or 225m? Shipping from the states will run you $400-500 for a set of rims. Tempe is a good place to start and like I said in the other thread, should have a set of M6 rims for between $1800 and $2000 WITH tyres. |

So how do you go about getting the TPMS working if you've replaced your wheels? |

ebay is your friend, these OEM wheels do come up regularly. as for TPMS, only yanks use it...our euro-spec cars rely upon the ABS system to detect any loss of pressure, puncture etc.

Correct .... Australian spec cars do not have TMPS sensers. Our system uses the ABS sensors to detect a deflating wheel therefore all you need to do is reset the tyre monitor system via i-drive or stalk control.
