I have stock exhaust with mine and will notice a very faint smell on startup - so minimal I wouldn't even consider it an issue.

Correct me if I am wrong, but 3" dps on an XI requires you to drop the engine (well the rear mounts). Much less of a DIY than the standard RWD models.

XI for sure... You missed out on mine I sold last week Altec... I sold them for a steal to a local guy. AR is the only way to go!
No need to drop the subframe. We accomplished an install and an uninstall with out doing this. SImplest way is to disconnect the tierod and a few of the suspension bits and push the wheel out so you can get the pipes in/out. PM me if you'd like help, we did mine in 2 hours on a lift so I have some good feedback on the installation and removal. fz |

I just checked the aR web site, there is still NO catted xi downpipes available for 335 (E92).
It is available for the 535xi though - but I have a 335xi ;-) |

XI fitment is tight and the ar design pipes maximize the available space to the max and fit like a glove. For an XI these are the only ones I would consider. Mike |

I wonder if it is possible to replace the downpipe + secondare cats = one solution with race cats in place. The goal should be to make it possible to dun better downpipes without any 2.5" restriction all the way to 2nd cats. And then replace the 2nd cats with high performance race cats = close to the best and still pass emission checks ?

I have the Ultimate Racing catted downpipes and AE catless exhaust. I'm happy with the setup. No smell and no check engine light. Some people have complained about rust, but after one winter, mine are holding up fine.
Whatever you go with, be careful with the O2 sensors. It's easy to damage them. |

I've installed a set of ceramic coated AR downpipes on my '09 XI, and I managed to switch the 2 front 02 sensors around... Not a lot of fun. The install was a PITA, but worth it. You will not regret them if you go the AR route, fitment was perfect! |

God... I couldn't imagine having to do that again... It was a total PITA. I'm glad I chose to go with the AR pipes. I would recommend them to anyone.
