Chris, I've just ordered four of these from Kwikfit for £360 which is by far the best price I could find. I've noticed that mytres have hiked their prices considerably.
As for are they any good, have a look here>>> http://www.tyretest.com/pkw_winterre...830/index.html I've been looking for a couple of days now and the general opinion is that they are one of the best winter tyres around. |

There were selling the inferior TS810 - do you mean those?? |

W12 I ordered them today and they are the 830's. What I didn't say is that they are 205x55x16 to go on some OEM 16" Rims that I bought for winter use off Ebay. Obviously if you are looking at bigger rims then it'll cost more. Have a look at their website, you may be suprised.

craig ive done exactly the same as you. just ordered them - rang the garage and quoted me £508 - ordered online at the same kwikfit garage plus fitting for 380 - ridiculous business they run! now just have to wait for the rims to arrive and the snow to melt so i can drive the bugger 200 yards to have them fitted
these ones - Continental Winter Contact TS830 Tyre Size 205/55H16 |

Good stuff Chris, I think alot of people discount kwikfit as they used to be daft for price. I've always found that they can be really competitive if you get down to business with them.
Like you I ordered online, have to wait until Friday to get them fitted. Post back with your thoughts when you get them. |

dramatic little video there, but as long as i can drive up my street with a 3% incline ill be satisfied though which would be more than last year is there any reason the coupe is particularly rubbish in snow? no weight over the rear axle? mind you last year i had the factory fit RFT. this year i havent dared to move it incase i crash it |

I don't think its just the coupe that is crap, I've got an M Sport tourer and it's terrible too. I'm on my fourth BMW and the others have had tyres of similar size and have been no where near as bad. I can only blame the runflats, I've got the same 18" oem rims as you. Unfortunately my 16's don't look quite as nice but on the plus side it rides like a dream.
Chris, you appear to have ordered exactly the same size as me. Mine came in at £364.60, have you paid slightly more? |

my only concern is that they will store them with all of the muck that is currently on there. might investigate washing them before swapping over |

These are obviously the winter tyre choice of North East BMW drivers as Ive also got myself a set of these from kwik fit!
Was quite shocked at the low price so snapped them up, had them on a week and have found them to be brilliant since Gateshead turned into the North Pole on Wednesday, I'm very happy so far and they probably havent even scrubbed in yet and they have never let go once. |

quite a coincidence!
never changed any wheels before and although everything seems to be alright does anyone forsee a problem using those tyres on these wheels i bought ET34 http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?p=8384222 put onto that car? only issue i have is that the original rear wheels are larger? ET37, will i need a spacer or something or can you put the rim on regardless? as 3mm doesnt seem too great? or have i totally got the wrong end of the stick Last edited by chrislad; 11-28-2010 at 03:30 AM.. |

Assuming the brake discs on your 320D are the same as mine then they will fit fine. I bought these the other day>>
http://www.auctiva.com/hostedimages/...0,0,0&format=0 They are on the car at the moment albeit with their summer rubber on and they fit OK. They obviously don't look as nice as the 18" M Sport rims and there is a bit more of an air gap at the rear arch but I know that BMW have already sold these on both the E90 and E91, dunno about the E92 but I would be suprised if they wouldn't be OK. Just need to try and sell the summer rubber on here or on Ebay when I get the winter tyres fitted. |

I fitted 4 new Continental Winter Contact TS830 205/55H16 to the wife's one year old Focus 1.8 Zetec 4 weeks ago. I got them from KwikFit, and the cost was £364.60 fitted and balanced.
I'm not sure if I can afford to buy a set for the 335i at the moment, so we will just use the Focus for the winter. The TS830's were awful at first. Just like driving on ice with the front end feeling very skittish in roundabouts. Now we have covered 900 miles on them, and I have softened up the front tyres with a little bit of wheelspin in first. They are now starting to feel very good, the ride is exceptionally quiet, and the turn in is much better now. The weather has been dry, but cold, so no chance yet to try them in the wet. I could not find any reasonably priced winter non-RFT 225/40/R18's for the 335i, so I think I will just leave it in the drive during the cold weather. In any case, the Focus is much quicker on Sussex B-roads when they get wet and slushy with leaves. And the ride in the Focus is like a magic carpet after the Bridgestone RFT's in the 335i. |
