AR Design OCC Experiences.
Thinking about getting this OCC but a little hesitant as I've heard of bracket fitment issues. A few questions for the guys on the forum who have them. I'm thinking of getting a driver side mounted AR Design OCC.
1) Has anyone actually collected any oil with this thing? (I've heard success stories with BSH and RR OCCs) 2) I heard there was an revision done on the OCC and it looks different than the one shown on the AR Design website. Is this true? 3) The hoses running to the drivers side seem quite long. Does this affect the ability of the OCC to capture oil? (i.e. BSH and RR OCC's have shorter hoses due to different mounting areas) Thanks Bimmerpost community! |

i have this occ, it's a great mounting location (driver's side, attached to power steering fluid res). it does look different than the ar design website shows, they've redesigned it but haven't updated their website.
i haven't collected any oil yet, but when i changed out my intercooler i noticed there was zero oil residue in it or the intake pipes, so i'm thinking my car doesn't suffer from oil blow by as bad. needless to say, i think the ar design occ is the best on the market because: -the filter within the can -the ideal mounting location (i.e. not directly over the turbos or exhaust mani's) -ar design's reputation for the best fabrication in our industry |

I mainly want to know if there could be any install issues. I already have the AR occ sitting on my living room floor. Just need to know what to tell my BMW tech before Wednesday.

I have the AR OCC (updated design) mounted on the passenger side due to my Stett CAI. Unfortunately there is not an easy way for me to check the oil level or empty without completely uninstalling the bracket and removing the can. If there is an easy way I would love AR to chime in but my shop who installed the OCC couldn't find an easy way either.

i know they don't operate under part throttle or daily driving conditions, only during WOT pulls. that could be a reason a lot of people don't collect oil with their occ's. unless you're tracking your car or driving aggressively on the street regularly, you may not collect oil. sorry if i couldn't explain that better, i'll look for the thread i'm referencing. |

Cool thanks for your input. Im either going to go with ar or bsh. Cant go wrong either way. Im leaning toward bsh at the moment as it leaves me free space to add a bov as well as access my ae bulbs when they need replacement.

I have the AR OCC on the drivers side and it fits perfect. My car has never had any oil residue in the pipes in various states of tune, but I put one on just in case. Some N54's have more blow by than others. I am on my 3rd 335 and never had an issue and all were broken in by BMW's recommendation. My friends 335 was broken in the old school way (Driven hard during brake in) and it goes through a quart of oil every 1500 miles and leave oil in the catch can. It's cheap insurance to try and keep the oil from carboning up the intake valves.
