E90 335i vs E34 540i accel. comparison?

I just realized that my current car, a 1995 E34 6-speed with M62 engine and Dinan chip/exhaust is very close to having same HP/torque, and same weight as an E90 335i.

E90 335i (N54) Weight = 3570lb, 306HP @ 5800, 295ft-lb @ 1300-5000
E34 540i (M62) Weight = 3570lb, 282HP @ 5700, 310ft-lb @ 3900 (plus whatever HP and torque from Dinan)

What noticeable differences would there be between how the two cars feel while driving? (My 335i test drive was very low speed along surface streets.)
The two cars should feel identical in terms of "nimbleness" (same weight and both 50/50). But it looks there'd be a significant difference in acceleration given the immediate availability of the N54's torque.

335's HP and TQ are actually closer to 330 stock. so it should def be quicker.

Walked you has videos and also if you search youtube there is a stock 335 vs 550... they do like a quarter mile race and the 335 just blows him away on every run... they do like 3-4 runs.

try searching for it...should give you an idea.

i own a 1995 e34 540i dinan 5 actually she is for sale!!! pm me!!! she runs perfect!!! but she works great on the highway unless in s2 s3 s4 in the city and highway kind of a cruiser but in the s mode goddam on the expressway she pulls like a mofo i kill m3's all day long!!! i took unbelievable care of her and loved her sooooooo much but i love this new e92 335 so much more and in 1 week when she arrives i think i will be in complete driving nirvana!!!

big differences the 335 felt more solid and the accelerator is more touchy in or out of sport mode!!! you feel as if the torque is every where not just when you click in the acc all the way!!!!

shifting is way faster in the new auto step..i believe in sport mode it is as fast as the old smg at 100 mili secs

my Alpine white white leather dinan 5 has:

koni stage 1 susp

auto trans software and engine software

high flow induction tube

exhaust
mats

plus a bitchin 4500 at least jl stereo with jjl 5.25 all around 2 tweeters and a jl 10w7 sub with a jl 1000/1 mono block amp and a jl 450/4 amp!!!1 looking for around $8500 total guys!!! she has about 129400 on the odo and i have the records i was the second owner the first was an admiral in hawaii where i went to college for 5 years then i sent her back here for the last 2 now it's 335 time!!!!! pm me if you have any questions!!!

That's interesting. The 550i is only 230 lbs heavier. If the stock 335i blows him away then it's mainly due to the 335i's low-end torque. And if the 335i can blow that car away, then it will probably slam all similarly weighted cars that don't have comparable low-end torque, even if they have, say 50 or so more HP/torque.

E90 335i (N54) Weight = 3570lb, 306HP @ 5800, 295ft-lb @ 1300-5000
E60 550i (N62) Weight = 3803lb, 367HP @ 6300, 361ft-lb @ 3400
E34 540i (M62) Weight = 3570lb, 282HP @ 5700, 310ft-lb @ 3900 (plus whatever HP and torque from Dinan)

I wont say I blew them away. some gears i would pull harder on the 540 and others we would be fairly close.

On the 550 tho I pulled about a car on from a 40-120. But I think it was due to his heavy wheels. Hes running 20's

Heres one video.

Everyone had 1 passenger except for me like always lol

I remember some earlier posts about the MB E 550 being faster than the 335 i. Any truth to that? The E 550 is the competition of the 550 i.

Those E550's arent too bad. stock for stock it should be a good race. E550 should have the upper hand tho. Esp from a roll.
