Speaking from experience one stuck pixel is covered under warranty. Go in and show it to your SA.
I had a single orange stuck pixel I noticed just after delivery. Brought it to the SAs attention a month later when I was in for some other quirks. He said its covered under warranty (defective part) so its up to me what I would like to do. My SA thought it may involve taking apart the dash. He said some people do nothing because it doesn’t bother them and they would rather not change out the part. The SA and I talked to the head tech and he said its an easy swap out - does not involve taking apart the dash. So they ordered the part and installed it under warranty. |

Yeah. Nothing like a 1Mb + animated file to scare off the 56K ers eh?

Yeah, but then you have to clean all that baby oil off the screen. That can be difficult.

I'm in IT and I know that computer manufacturers won't replace a LCD or laptop screen unless there are several pixels that don't work. I would think BMW would take the same approach.

This is news to me. We deal with IBM, Dell and hp and they would never do that. Maybe things have changed, maybe some of you got lucky. I guess the lesson to be learned is it's worth giving it a shot to try getting it fixed...

It could also have something to do with the location of the pixel. If it were in a central part of the screen and annoying maybe they would. Off toward the edge.. maybe not.

Thanks a lot guys for all you replied.. i also work in the it indsutry.. and we (IBM) dont replace lcd for just one dead pixel.. so i wasn't sure... I will try the message method, i am just wary of taking my plastic cover off...
If the pixel was one row down i woudlnt notice it because it is right next to the divider line... |
