Wheels Stuck
I tried taking off my front wheels this weekend and even after taking off all 5 nuts, the wheels are completely stuck to the car in the front. Any suggestions on how to get them off?

Interesting that it's stuck in the front, my wheels are often a bit stuck in the rear, but very easy to get of in the front.

Get a big rubber mallet, bang away at inside of tire with car in the air. (I was never a fan of the "just kick it" method)

just kick it at the top of the wheel, you must not be trying hard enough, the are rarely stuck so much that you can't get them off.

Hub, yes - always. Bolts, NO - never on the bolts. Anti-seize on the lug bolts will affect the torque measured on your torque wrench.

Good point. Threads should just be very clean and dry. With anti-seize, you run the risk of breaking threads. That being said, I think he referring to very salty and wet northeast winter roads, where corrosion is a big issue for some.

Is it really that hard to coat the hubs? I realize that this would drive up production costs/time for BMW but seriously.
My dad's E65 has never had the wheels removed. I tried to change his brakes the other month and I gave up because I couldn't get the wheels off. I kicked, rubber mallet'd, and screamed at the wheels for like an hour. |

Oh please, if you use some common sense when tightening the bolts you will know when to stop tightening to prevent over torquing them. I've always put a bit of Antiseize on the bolts of all of my vehicles and I am yet to have problems.
