I've pieced together all of the parts and can't believe how cheap this setup really is. However, I can't seem to find the 20mm x 1.5 to -8AN 90 degree fittings ANYWHERE....The closest fittings I can find to those are 18mm x 1.5 to an -8AN. Only size AN line with a 20mm x 1.5 is a -10AN and above and all of these are straight fittings, not 90 degrees. Care to share with me where you found the adapters for the allen plugs on the filter housing???? Good work so far with this DIY oil cooler kit!!!!!!

if any one is still keeping an eye on this post..... here are a few updates , with it being the 335i the hood Clarence is very low i had fabbed up some fittings because the 90 degree fittings are rare and about 40 a piece so when my fittings were tig welded together i guess on one side they were not made of a quality metal and the weld formed a very very small crack through it when it cooled , so the next step is to make some out of stainless !!! will keep you updated

I am heading over to the dealership now....they just had to custom fab. brackets and cut a shit ton out of the front end to get the ar oil cooler in there. I will post some pics soon. I also had issues with the hood clearance. The setrab cooler looks to be a fair amount bigger than this one tho. We will see what they came up with....

Not sure why you assume it's okay to drop the oil temp that much. The point is to keep the oil temp consistent and below 250 on the track, not drop it so low that it changes the properties of the oil. I have to believe that BMW choose that temp range for a reason.

I agree. A 180 degree thermostat, will cause slower warm ups, and the ecu to dump gas, causing winter time gas mileage, all year round.

im not changing the t-stat just adding a cooler so once it opens it stays about 230 and not hanging around 250 when beating on the car more boost = more heat ! and fuel trim is based on coolant temp not oil temp the oil t stat is in place to get oil temp up before circulating through the cooler

For the removal of the thermo, do you just take it out and that's it?
