Glad you got it all sorted in the end! I fill the bottle at the moment with 100% intensive screenwash. It's effectively alcohol and methylated spirits so I can't see it harming the painwork unduly but I suppose it could strip wax if you left it in a puddle on the car. It's always a good idea after the cold snap anyway to thoroughly wash and re-wax the car to get rid of salt deposits from all the grit our local authorities put down...
