e90 hamann lip scraping?
I was wondering if i could get some feedback from people that have a hamann lip on their e90/92. I would like to know how much the ground clearance is diminished and how careful you have to drive to prevent scraping. From pictures, it looks like you lose 1-2 inches maybe more. Is it worth it to put one one, even here in Michigan where we get lots o snow.

I like the look of the Hamann lip but decided not to get one cuz it would scrape often and might even get cracked. It sits at least 1 inch lower than the stock bumper and I already scrape on speed bumps and steep driveways. (Lowered on H&R sport springs, I should add.)

I have it and i have about 1 inch or less of clearance. I'm lowered and i have splitters as well. You WILL scrap it eventually. It's a good lip though that can take a beating. Most of the scrapes will be at the bottom anyways and not seen unless under the car.

I have sport package, but no extra lowering. If i am careful and stay aware of the lip at parking curbs, speed bumps, and steep inclines/declines and approach them at an angle, will i be ok?

No it's going to explode and ruin your front bumper.....it'll buff out though.
Seriously though, everyone's driving conditions are different. Everyone's areas are paved differently. Everyone's areas have different places, with different angles, with different pothole locations.....get what I'm saying? Make a cardboard box that is an inch and a half thick and run it along your front bumper. See where you bottom out? This is a serious suggestion. I'm not trying to make fun of you. |

I had the lip on my oem bumper and now I have the one for my M3 bumper and I will say the OEM one sits about an inch higher than the one I have now and I havent scraped my new one yet. I never scraped my oem bumper hamann spoiler and I am on H&R Sports.
I still had about 4 inches clearance, now I am down to about 3 inches clearance, just be careful with it and you will be fine. I got over speed bumps no problem, but I also creap over them. I say get it!!! Even if you do scrape, it is all in the name of good styling, just figure on it happening and you wont be pissed when it happens! Well you probably still will be, but not as mad as if you hadnt planned on it! One more thing - Mine is a plow in the winter! hahaha
