Complex wiring question - correcting LED angel eye rings bulb out error
I'll try to explain this as clearly as I can. I have Umnitza LED angel eye rings which draw a lower current than OEM bulbs which triggers a bulb out error. This error goes away as soon as the lights are turned on or if the car is started in low light (I keep my headlights in the auto position so the headlights come on at start up). So I thought I could eliminate the error with a DRL kit which causes the angels to come on right at start up in all light conditions. However I installed the Daeos DRL kit from JLevi to no avail. It does function properly with the angels on at all times, but still get an error when starting the car in daylight. I'm confused as to why I still get the error when the angels are on, but it would seem I need to add resistors.
So my question is this. I already have LED turn signals installed which utilize resistors. Is it possible to bridge a wire from the resistor to the angel eye wire on the headlight harness? I don't know if a resistor can support more than one bulb, and if so would this type of bridge work? I don't want to try it without any information because I don't want to damage anything of sensitive electronics. I contact JLevi about this but they didn't know. Appreciate any input! Yes I realize I could add another set of resistors but between 2 taps for the resistors I already have and 2 taps for the DRL kit, my headlight harnesses are already a mass of taps and electrical tape. Bonus pic of sweet LED angel eye DRLs! |

Here's a diagram of what I'm talking about trying. Has anyone else ever tried using a single resistor for two bulbs? I have no idea what the actual capabilities of these resistors are.

Or why dont you simply have the DRL error coded out??? You could also have the turn error coded out, and you can remove all resistors if I understand it correctly,..,

I wasn't aware that you could do that. Do you have to go to the dealer to have it done? Depending on the price I'd prefer to code it. Has anyone done this?

I am curious. My Daeos error goes away and is never on every time I start up. Sometims the error will appear and then go away after 5min of driving. I have LED license plate lights that are throwing a bulb out error and curious about the code out program. Where did you get the resistor for your turn signals? I have a set of LED bulbs for the turn signals but haven't installed because of the rapid flash and bulb out error. Will the resistor work for any bulb out error (festoon license plate bulb)?

Resistors are generic, I bought mine from JLevi but other vendors carry them too. $15 for a set. I think resistors would work for your license plate bulbs, but why not just buy a set of housings that have built in resistors? Simpler, cleaner install.
I never did get an answer on anyone going to the dealer to code out the angel eye error, so I assume it hasn't been done or can't be done. |
