Has anyone ever performed surgery on seats?

I am wondering if anybody has ever retrofitted parts of one seat onto another.

Suppose you had a non-sport seat with memory/heating/lumbar, and suppose you had a sport seat with no lumbar. Is it possible to retrofit the cushions from the sport seat, as well as the seat back width adjustment (the frontmost switch) onto the non-sport seat? It seems to me that the superstructure of the seat should be identical, so it's just a question of hooking up the pieces, but I have never ripped a seat apart, so I don't know.

Any thoughts?
