Perfrmnce Bmper = Fog Light Malf?
Sorry about the title, had to make sure it all fit.
Anyways, today I finally got my car back from the body shop. It was getting the performance bumper installed. Since the fog lamps get eliminated with this bumper it throws a fog light malfunction error. It shows up on my iDrive and is pretty annoying. Does anyone know how to get rid of this error? I know there has to be a fix since it's a BMW Part. I don't want to take it into the shop because I have the procede on my N55 and it is a pain to get out just for that. If anyone can help that would be great Also I think they installed the airducts wrong on my car. I guess it comes with 3 different air duct inserts, and for my car isn't there supposed to be ducts leading to the rotors? The ones I have now basically cap it off then have holes on top of the insert leading to the engine? So I went straight to Bobby Rahal BMW and they said "umm we don't know what it is supposed to look like, take it easy on the braking (LMAO), and come in monday and we can have someone here to look at it. What is it supposed to look like? I would hate having to goto the dealer for this little thing because it is about 40 miles away. Thanks in advance for any help on this. |

depend on what kind of model car you have, some will have the scoop inserts that just block the hole and some have the scoop intakes for the oil cooler not brakes, so i have been told. Look at this here- http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=465863
I am sure those are the scoops you got. As far as the fog light, just do what long said, plug the blub back and dont use them. Also if you look at your front bumper, you have stock brake ducks that direct air to your brakes. you can see them threw your front mesh. I have the same bumper and went threw the same thing as you did. |

Thanks Long and Evo for your input!
I have a 2011 335xi E90. My bumper ducts look exactly like the link evo posted. Here are pics, sorry about quality, they were iphone pics. Also for the foglamps do I just take the socket and bulb out of the housing and plug it in without the housing? What is the best way to prevent them from corroding since they wont be encased anymore? Thanks! You guys are great! |

I'm just gonna plug my fogs in, I don't feel like taking the procede off just for that one little thing. I am just wondering what all the extra ducts are for
