Standard Car Best Price circ £650, £500 xs

Lip Spoiler and Exhaust circa £995 best price with £750 total xs

I can't quite believe that having a remap, spoiler and exhaust would almost double the insurance!! Adrian Flux can't even get close to the figures.

Those prices are with my wife ON the policy (even though she won't drive the car as it's an auto). If i take her off the prices raise by another £200 - £300!!!!

Any suggestions? (apart from don't mod the car!)
Try Noel Dazely, were cheaper than anywhere else for my E92 330d M Sport Coupe in standard form and only want an extra £70 if I decide I want to remap it regardless of bhp/torque gains. Very reasonable

29, 2 ncb, 21000 miles but no business miles, 250 excess, car on drive. Wouldn't bother with Adrian Flux, always seem to quote about 700 more than anywhere else.

Agree. I think Aviva were nearly 4 times as expensive as the cheapest quote on my last car, not much point getting 2 months free if you're already overpaying to that degree. They're poor for mods as well

There is no rhyme or reason how insurance companies quote for cover. This is the closest thing I have found to work out my premiums

Either way, like Will, eventually you get fucked up the ass

Agreed

Insurance threads are totally pointless.

I agree. When my renewal arrived, it prompted me to tell the company (Aviva) about my SP30 - the "adviser" consulted and came back with a CHEAPER quote than my renewal.
My son, a couple of years ago, at 17, modded his Rover 200 (have to start somewhere!) with flashy lights and wheels, but Quinn Direct didn't charge extra and were still the cheapest - wonder if that's why they're in administration!!

Nationwide did me a really good quote, this time.

As with other comments, it's never worth taking a renewal quote and the time spent ringing round and pushing 'competition quotes' with some Insurers is time well spent. My 325i is a standard car, so not really tricky to get reasonable prices on, but I've had stupid discussions with some insurers who quote higher for NOT having a tracker fitted to the car. 'If you fit a tracker madam, the price will reduce by £300 and your excess will be about £250." However, the cost to fit a tracker... :-O
