For mine, I made a mold (out of cardboard) to figure out where exactly the triangle went. Here’s how I made it. Replace step 2 with this. Apply a scrap piece of vinyl to the taillight, covering the shape completely. Trace the shape you need including the cutout area using a marker. Peel the vinyl off the light and stick it onto a piece of cardboard. Cut out the shape using an X-Acto knife/scissors using the lines you made as a guide. Trace the shape onto a new piece of vinyl using this mold – cut it out (like before using scissors/X-Acto). Continue to step 3 You can flip the mold to get the reverse shape for the other side. If you don’t have a lot of extra vinyl to make the mold, I imagine saran wrap (plastic wrap) would work the same. Here’s a pic of the mold I made - as you can see, it's pretty rough so it doesnt need to be perfect. |

Looks good! I think it works better with black than the smoked taillights would.
