Has anybody here polished their calipers
I was thinking of getting my calipers polished! Have anyone of u guys done that?? How much did it cost you? And how's the finish holding up?? Did the chrome color stay, or it turned into deferent colors?

Well, I had mine powdercoated Black (you could use caliper paint also). Not really sure of the factory material, but if they are aluminum - yes they can be polished. But the finish will still corrode/discolor just as it did before they were polished (especially if they see salt in the winter
I have had polished aluminum parts then Clear Anodized after polishing to protect the finish - but never to brake parts, but it may be possible. If they are cast iron - then no, they can't be polished And whatever you do, NEVER chrome plate structural brake components. During the chroming process metals undergo what is called 'Hydrogen Enbrittlement' which leads to weakening of the parts and they could suffer a catastrophic failure at some point in time down the road...

Cast iron seems more likely for some reason wouldn't you agree? Would aluminum deform too easily with the heat generated in the braking area?

Quite a few of the aftermarket monoblock calipers are made from aluminum - such as the ones I have on my T/A.
Easiest way of finding out is to test with a magnet
