JB+ with 89 Octane???

Hey guys,

I wanted to know what would happen if the JB+ (stage 2) was used with 89 octane. And also can an octane booster like Lucas Oil be used to raise the rating from 89 to 91.

Thx

NEVER use 89 octane. Why would you consider this when it says minimum of 91?

Don't you have 93 octane fuel in Florida? Why would you use 89? Saving $$$?

For best gains with the JB+ use the 93 oct. fuel...simple as that.

89 stock is not recommended. With JB it would definitely not be recommended either.

Use premium and add octane booster to that to get up to 95.

I wouldn't even use 89 stock.

lol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When my ex borrowed my car in the past she'd always put 87 into my 330i... That car wasn't even turbo and it would pull timing like crazy and be dog**** slow. What do you think the N54 with high compression ratio turbo charged engine will do when pushed past its pre-programmed settings? This is seriously the beginning of the n54 becoming readily available to the riceburner tuners.

Thanks for the reply guys. I was mainly asking since there have been times when driving from Miami to up north you cant find 93. So I was mainly wondering if 89 was added with an octane booster (as an emergency) would it still work.

But currently I'm having issues with my JB install. Last night it threw a CEL with reduced power and engine malfunction light on. This was while the setting was at 40% (less than the default). My car is completely stock otherwise. And I already downloaded the instructions and waited more than 30 min before installing.

Help!

I certainly would not do that or for that matter regularly use octane booster period. That stuff leaves behind a coating on everything that is just not pretty.
