slightly over budget, but nice D3 with 200bhp in place and no need to pay insurance premium for mods or 500 for remap....

Another vote here for the 335d, fantastic cars.
Im thinking the same, but think it is time to grow up. Ive just been made redundant also, so a car with better mpg will help me broaden my job hunt, id be able to afford to travel alot further!

Yeah thats fine mate, just be nice to get more then 21mpg when im trying to get decent mpg

Good luck
Thanks for your advice, i will certainly not be happy with a 4 pot bmw, as i love the sound of the straight 6! But needs must

Welcome Danny. Nice little collection of cars there, especially for your age - nice one .

I'm on the hunt for a 320d (touring) for the missus at the minute, the mpg is really hard to resist isn't it, the benefit for me is that I only drive it at the weekends so can cope if it's not exciting on the speed front.

Good luck searching.
Thanks for the welcome! Yeah ive had a few nice little motors i think, which doesnt help me looking for something sensible!

Im hoping to get something like the 320d and then in a few months if work lets me! something as a weekend toy

around 40mpg i can go with, as its still twice what i get from the Focus when trying.

Insurance is another thing thats bugged me, its the same as with the focus, with all the mods declared too!

Looks nice that mate, out of interest, is it easy to retro fit xenons? Are the units expensive? On the Focus (A bloody ford!!) they fetch 350GBP second hand!

there are HID upgrades, but they technically arent legal as they should have cleaning and levelling.

I think the auto's are supposed to be fine. mate of mine has my car in auto. Only caveat is that it is (even) worse in the snow, and he munches through tyres way quicker than the manual, and his mpg is about 10-15% worse than me.

Yeah didnt want the crap HID upgrades, althought that did work with the 530i Sport as i already had projector light units Xenons on reflector units look shocking

Ill re-phrase that one then, are the projector units expensive?

Yeah ill stick with the manual then i think, benefit of being more involved ( I need a bit of fun!) and the snow thing really worrys me, no control over it! Suprised to hear he eats tyres more tho!

Just got back from a round trip to bristol, down the m6 then m5. Way back was a nightmare, stanstill from m5 j2 and still at the standstill at the m6 telford (m54) junction. Sat nav re-routed but all the towns rammed with traffic.

Still got 42.8mpg on the trip tho and i was a bit late on the way down if you know what i mean.

Don't discount the 335d

Just wanted something more comfortable, refined, less hassle as not so specialist etc. No regrets really, but glad i owned a FRS for almost 2 years.
