Poppy Seed Looking Things

Everytime I wash my car, I see these little black things on my hood and roof. About a half dozen new ones each wash. They're black, white on the inside.

Anyone know what this is? Insect eggs or poop?

Do you park under or near trees? Sounds like some kinda of sab/bud/plant "thingy" I think alcohol and water should take it out, but If not clay should do the trick! Pm Picus, He would know all about it!

I think what you are talking about is a seasonal thing when you park near oak trees. I get them in the late summer and they come off with car wash soap provided that they don't stay on there too long and bake to the paint. Otherwise they come off with cleaner/wax with a little scrubbing.

Maybe seeds from trees you parked under. Have you parked under any flowering trees recently?

I would say no to the scrubbing, that is like the worst thing you could do....

Clay should take it out no problem!

Sounds like a clay job if they don't come off in your normal wash.

I completely agree. Scrubbing these areas would only create more headaches for you in the future. There is a high chance of adding imperfections such as swirls and scratches by scrubbing these items in your paint. The proper method would be to clay bar your vehicle in order to minimize adding imperfections in the paint.

It sounds like there's only a few spots that would need the clay so it wouldn't really take up that much more time either during your details or maintenance washes.

Let us know if you have any other questions.

George
