JL Audio 1/500amp- Subwoofer Selection!

Im trying to put the pieces together for my ICE. i have the JL Audio 1/500 amp in hand and im still in the air about what subwoofer to choose.

i really like the Eclipse 7000 alum series http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...roduct_ID=1995

im considering the Eclipse or the Infinity Perfect series right now.

im considering putting 1 12inch sub in, nothing too too much.

im keeping the stock head unit, i dont want to lose the controls. i'll be using a hi-lo converter so no worries about wiring setup.

i used the search function on here, and i dont see many people adding subs to their logic 7 system. for components, the highs and mids are great, but i have always wanted to add a subwoofer to my car.

i dont want to spend more than $300 for a subwoofer so i think most JL subs are out of the question.

what do you guys recommend? any suggestions as to location of the sub in the trunk? is a capacitor necessary? and lastly, should i go with a ported or a sealed box. im thinking sealed, for the sound quality.

car ordered 2nd week of Oct 2006, picked up Dec 23! windows have been tinted at this point 30% (legal tint) i didnt want to black out the windows and get hassled by the cops =\

the JL W6 is very nice. but if u want people to hear you before they see you..get the 12 W7

If you can find any Adire Audio subs, they're great. Not too expensive but very loud. They're not too great to look at though...

i want to be proud of what i have. i could just slap a $500 system together, it'll bump, but i dont want a makeshift setup. thats why i went with the JL audio amp, it has respect. but subwoofer wise, i dont want to dish out 500-700 bucks for the W7, not that i dont like them, i love them, i just dont have the money for it, im buying all this myself, so a budget is necessary. but Eclipse/Infinity are also great bands, anyone have any experience with them?

alpine 330, i like the W6's too, but im trying to find a cheaper retailer...most places are asking too much out of me

I'm sure something from image dynamics would fall into your range. Bang for buck subs imho.

iirc, there was a pioneer sub that would fit under the front seats.

Also, take a look at Elemental Designs subs. They are very SQ. They will sound great in the car, like a top notch home theater system.

I have an Image Dynamics 12IDQ in my truck and I always get compliments on how nice the sub plays. It hits all the low notes cleanly and can keep up with any music you throw at it. I am only throwing 300W RMS to it as well.

get it sealed, small box within spec in the trunk resting against the back seat and firing backwards...
no need for caps, just get good wires and a good amp. you dont need that much power, the sub is pretty efficient

im impressed by the design, small yet powerful. i wonder if these can give the jl stealth system a run for their money

I'm very font of boston acoustics subs. They have tight bass and good sq. Also well respected.

I have 2 12inch JL W3s with a 500/1 JL amp....its soooo nice and clean.....I was stuck on getting one sub and nobody that I talked to could get my to get 2 subs instead of just one 12 inch and once i got to the shop to get it installed, I was convinced to get 2 and it was the best decision ive made.
