just go and look over this van for the black marks from your car. If you can't find any then you aint got a leg to stand on without witnesses.
If the guy comes out his house giving you grief about looking over his Van tell him whats happened and if he aint got anything to hide then whats the problem. If he starts getting shirty then look around for potencial witnesses, if their aren't any...reverse your elbow into his jaw....not enough to leave any transfer though! no evidence = his word vs yours = no conviction |

It was funny because the guy said my friend entered his house and attacked him but the blood splatter on the outside of the house proved he had came out the house and initiated the fight by hitting my first friend who was charged with nothing as he was unconscious. Not dead funny now I've read it.

In my friends case he hit him with the hammer which could easily have killed him. In your case you could knock him out resulting in the same. Mind I'm in favour of confronting this guy all be it with diplomacy at first but when you knock on a strangers door, which I have done, then you have to be aware and accept that things can escalate and I'm also not in favour of walking away with my dick in my hand. I pulled a guy up for queue jumping at the weekend. Same thing, I didn't know how he was going to react and I suppose it was stupid but I think he sensed my mood and moved along. The lady with the pram in front of me thanked me as it was her he cut in on. You either sit and stew about the wrong you've had done to you or you deal with it. But the price could be high and you might regret it. Jimmy lad asked for advice. Just sharing an experience.

I'd be very careful and avoid any confrontaton. Knives etc are all to often seen these days, sadly

The police will not get involved now as you have an obligation to report a road traffic collision within 24hrs of it happening and if you do ring them up all they are obliged to do is record the incident for stats purposes and you'll just be patched through to a admin clerk who will file your RTC report.
Technically its a fail to stop bump which is a criminal offence but considering there was no witness to the bump police could not assume the van driver was the offender without proof and at present there is only flakey circumstantial evidence which wouldn't be acted upon it could have happened anywhere considering the time frame. You can always ask him but be polite, treat him as a witness and not an offender as he may not have been aware he hit you. If he denies it it'll be you that has to stump up the cash for repairs sadly. Joys of owning a car I suppose |

Exactly this.
3 days prior to Christmas, someone reveresed into my parked car whilst visiting family, I came out later that night to find a note on the windscreen with all details, and accepting it was her fault. Damage is a nice dent in the drivers rear door and back quarter panel, along with some serious scratches down to metal. Car goes in today to be repaired under her Insurance for a week or so as it has to be keyed and pulled out, and I am getting a Jaguar XF S as a courtesey car whilst its repaired. So there are SOME decent people left out there, I think I was lucky. |

Exactly the same thing happened to me, but it was the driver side bumper corner which was cracked. I saw the crack a few day's latter and i automatically thought of the day i parked my car on the road which i don't do often. So i checked my CCTV camera footage and saw the car opposite my house reversing out hitting my car and driving off, the he came back 5mins later to check how much damaged he caused and driving off.
So i confronted him ( i had a friend with me if thing's got abit ugly) i told him that he had hit my car and i thought i would do the decent thing first and confront him and i had CCTV footage. He said " he did'nt hit my car but if i wanted to claim i could and he would give me his detail's because his no claim's is protected" . He knew he had hit my car but did'nt want to admit it. But i got my bumper replaced through his insurance. I would take a friend with you and ask him nicely to give his insurance detail's and tell him you have a witness. If he refue's then i think you will have to teach him the hard way. THAT'S ONLY IF YOU KNOW FOR SURE THAT IT WAS HIM THAT HIT YOU'RE CAR THOUGH. |
