Alpine HID or Angel iBright
Hey all,
Just a quick question. Looking to pony up the cash in the next couple of weeks and find a proper solution for the angels on my e92. Due to research I've ruled out OSS and the BavX Ls3 due to having to bake the headlights open which could cause condensation in the future which i dont want to risk. Also ruled out Lux's due to the drilling required. Basically what I'm looking for is the least invasive way to give e the nicest looking angels. The Alpine HID's appear to be the brightest but almost too bright on the inner angels and the outers appear dull as well as all the wires involved in installing this kit. The ibrights seem less involved in installation but are at a $100 premium. Anyone care to shed some light on what kit gives the most uniform lighting during the daytime? Even some daytime pics, with the headlights off. Thanks. |

You can't really see the Angel iBrights in the daytime unless you're at just the right angle, so it's not a matter of which is the most uniform but which is visible. The Alpine HID's are the only solution besides OSS and LS3 that's visible during the day. You also don't have to drill with Lux H8's just tuck them under the frame.
If you care about daytime visibility Apline is the way to go. They're not really too bright.

Here is the basic order of brightness that the forums has come to accept. (excludes OSS which requires opening the headlight unit)
HID > LUX > AIB > Stock In terms of uniformly lit rings, you can't really beat the LUX because despite HID's being bright, the inner ring overwhelms the outer ring making it less evenly lit comapred to the LUX. Sometimes the inner ring is so bright you can't even see it properly at night, all you will see is a blob. Not to mention driving with HID Angels poses a hazard to oncoming traffic.

The HID's that are used in the Alpine kit don't produce more heat than the stock bulb, they are special cold HID's. The Lux's aren't really visible in direct sunlight unless you look directly head on. A few degrees off and they aren't visible.
The Lux H8 rings also look like a bit of a blob at night on the inner ring.
