Can anyone comment on the GCT and untimate braking ability compare to factory pad?

sorry for the newbie question, but do you need to multiply these by the number of brakes to be changed? ie x2 for fronts only or x4 for all 4?

The pads are generally sold as sets front or rear. You also need one sensor for front and one for rear. Both the pads and sensors differ front to back so they should have different part numbers. What's listed above would be to do either front or rear I would think.

Garage List
That's right - one sensor for each axle. Should be on opposite corners

guys, got my brakes checked as the light was now not even on in the dash. It seems the front sensor had completely worn out! also, my front rotors were nearly 5mm below the recommended safety mark.

Got quoted something stupid (around $1500 I think) by Trivett BMW (Parramatta, Sydney) for the front pads (incl sensor) and rotors installed. Was a more reasonable $730 from RPM in North Parramatta (who are highly recommended by some friends) but I ended up doing it through Midas in Parra as they did the original inspection (free) and were actually very accommodating to me, charged me $770 in the end. Very happy with their service!

For the rears, which I will need to do in the next 6 months, I think I will order the parts from the site mentioned by OP and simply pay to have it installed, unless someone can recommend cheaper than $750 to have rear rotors, pads and sensor installed for e90 323.

normally the rotors last much longer than the brake pads before they need to be replaced...did your incar indicator say you needed to replace both the pads and the rotors in one go, how many kms done on your car?

$750 for brakes and rotors with installation sounds good, are they OEM's, let us know what it costs when you get them both online and then installed

Hey fellas, Just noticed this thread now about Bendix pads. Been looking around for a discussion on just this particular topic but seems we Aussies are limited by the small amount of BMW drivers, so i gotta cross over from the 1addicts board .

Anyways the 1 series convertible shares a few parts with the E90 series. In particular the brakes i have on my car are exactly the same part thats used in a number of E90/92 models. (34116772669) http://www.realoem.com/bmw/partxref....=on&showeur=on

My front rotors are utterly worn out at 50,000km, i should have replaced them last month but got distracted and sidetracked, so as of a few days ago it's gotten so bad i have to urgently replace them.

Today i managed to score a front set of non slotted DBA rotors (DB2862) from Supercheap Auto for a Mere $100 a pop, apart from price i also went non slotted as ive been told by a BMW parts rep that many aftermarket rotors especially the DBA slotted kind will make considerable noise with ceramic pads.

Im in the process of acquiring front brake pads, Im after dustless ceramics and the only ones i can find here in Oz are the Bendix general CT. Repco has them for $105 which is the cheapest ive found so far. I wouldnt mind Akebonos but i just cant wait for them to get here from overseas.

So whats the general opinion for the Bendix General CT?????

In regards to the Pad Wear sensor i was quoted $67 at Trivett in Parramatta and $55 at Sylvania BMW.

Im going to give Midas in Waterloo a call in the morning and see if they can fit me in for installing the brakes this weekend, otherwise can any one else recommend a good shop in Sydney?? Very much appreciated

Cheers

Anthony

I'm planning to order the rear brake pad and sensor too.

I have tried to find the parts from http://www.bmminiparts.com/. However, I couldn't find them.

Could anyone tell me how can I find the parts and order from there?

quick question,

did they also reset the computer on the dash, is there anyway to determine if just the pads need replacing or both the pads and rotors. Was going to order the parts and get them fitted.

cheers

How many km's are people getting on 335i pads?

I've had to manually reset my sensor through the indicator stalk a few times, now the idrive reading doesn't update

no but there is a youtube video that I think I posted the link of in this or another thread that explains how to reset it. You can check time left for replacing the pads and rotors from the control stalk where you have service, oil change info etc. When you reach service time left I think you need to push the up down lever to get that, can't remember but there will surely be a youtube video showing that too. Btw if you want get them fitted you can contact Steve too on bmw.minitech@live.com who"s a BMW mech and would know how to reset it, he's very good. If you need his number can PM it to you.
