Added Ipod adapter after lease agreement.
Hey guys!
I have a quick question. I placed an order for my 335i sedan last week. It's suppose to go into production next week. And I will be leasing the car. I just asked my CA to add the Ipod option to the car. Now, my question is since we have come to a monthly price agreement and residual, how can I factor in the added accessory? Do I divide the cost of the Ipod adapter by 36 months (lease term) and then add it to the monthly lease payment? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks! |

instead of going through all that trouble, why don't you just pay for the ipod adaptor outright?

I was thinking about it. But just wanted to see what the difference in price was. I know it's only $365, but if I can spread it out over 36 months with no interest, then why not hold onto the $365 for something else, right?

You have to do this with the dealer as the iPod adapter may or may not be capital reducible. In other words it may or may not affect the residual.

the ipod option is $400. what usually happens is your CA will write up a new bill of sale and should provide you with the new payment... which shouldn't be much more than 400/36. if you're worried about getting screwed around, ask the CA to fax you a new copy of the bill of sale and a copy of the updated build sheet so you can sign both and fax them back. that way both of you are up front and you'll get what you want and the CA has a new signed copy of the bill of sale so there are no surprises when the car comes in.

I just picked up my car on Monday and was in the same situation. The dealer ended up not charging me for the iPod adapter and the kept the same payments we agreed on. It would only come out to about $4/mo. anyway ($400 x 39% / 36). It is a good way to keep the customer happy.
