Carbon fiber grills are glossy and unless you are pretty close they look black. In most of the pics I have seen the carbon fiber loooks black until you get close enough to see the weave. Find a pic of a TiAg E90 with a carbon fiber grill.

agree it's all personal preference and that either route will look good.

however, it won't chip if it's black glossy plastic (not painted). i also speak from experience, from my current e90 and my past e34.

that said, glossy black pre-lci e90 grills are hard to come by. glossy black lci e90 grills are not a problem as the ones offered by bmw are glossy.

that was good one about cf grilles... found these two, especially last one looks like it's glossy. not bad at all i must say... but matching window trim to grill still seems like most correct way to go design wise. I also notice that the lower grilles are matte.

I agree with matching the window trim. Matte to matte or gloss to gloss. Gives more continuity and more together look rather than the "wow I just started adding shit" look.
A little off topic but I thought about doing my trim in black but since my wheels have a brished lip I left it silver. Wonder if I should try black

I am thinking about buying a matte black grill for my TiAg e90 also. I just bought the car a couple months ago so I am sort of new to the modding. Just got some blacklines so far. I was wondering how can you tell if your finish is matte or glossy? I think mine is matte but I'm not sure if its just because the car is a little dirty right now.

+1 if you have other glossy parts around the car, then do it. Otherwise, go with matte.
