Anyone Running ESS Direct Flash or COBB AccessPort ?

Looking to see if anyone is running the ESS Direct Flash or the COBB Access Port? If so I am looking for some feedback. I have a 2007 335i Sport AT and would like to go with a flash option other than Dinan. Willing to wait for 2007 support on the COBB if the right choice. I am not looking for the most HP on the market. Rather I am looking for increased HP with improved throttle response and drivability. Thanks for the help.

I am currently running stage 2 ESS Flash. They now have their flash loader so you dont have to send them your ecu. The flash loader is also really easy to use.

sunnydshine, how do you like the flash? Are you happy with your selection? Any pros or cons you can share? Thanks.

Didn't you just create a thread about JB4 and Turner? Where every body told you the best options and to do some searching already!!!!

techlogik, yes I created the other post and it got way off the topic, turned into JB vs Proceed. I would like to talk to people about their experience with real details not just buy this or that. Part of researching is contacting the supplier and people who use the products.

I am running the stage 2 DIRECTFlash from ESS.

It is super. Everything works fine. This is the way of the future progress!!!!

Recommend that whenever you flash a car with what or this flash you should connect car battery to a charging unit to be 100% safe.

Dude, half of the recent threads in this sub-forum are about COBB. Just search and read, it's not that hard. There are multiple on the front page, not much searching needed.

Ctrl+F - COBB

That's cool; it's good to hear you're having success with the ESS tune.

However, I haven't heard or/seen more than 1 other person with the ESS flash, and have never heard of anybody with the Turner Flash. Haven't even heard of the Turner flash; and that DOES mean something. Not that it is a bad tune, just that it is far behind in the development and continuously improved perfections that are necessary to make a competing N54 tune. Not to mention, Turner and ESS have no presence on this forum (or any others I believe). Obviously if they were to have a presence here they would have a larger market; and would get a ton more feedback to make the tune better.

Even though the ESS is working for you, I would venture to say that they don't have a fraction of the development or completing improvements as others such as GIAC or the other tunes if you'll compare general tune products. Have you been involved with a much of their development? Do you have logging ability to show us a bit of how your engine is operating? (I/we're not saying it's not working great, just curious how ESS is doing it) so hopefully you don't take any offense from this.

Why not just get the ESS until COBB comes out with a flash for the 2007 or even go piggyback till then?

ESS is a great flash , they just stopped developing it at 14.5 psi when they hit the ECU table/torque limits since they did not want to invest lots of money into it like GIAC did for example.
If ESS would have gone past the 14.5 psi barrier we would have heard much more of it.

I'm sorry I do not have any logs etc for the ESS flash. I was not involve in development either. I am glad they do not run more than the 14.5psi - this is plenty for my usage and also will improve long life of the vehicle as I intend to keep it for in the future.

But all I did was send my stock file to ESS and within hours they sent me the modified ones. And all I can say is they work with no errors or issues so far.

I am overseas and I am very grateful ESS supports any BMW N54 unlike the Cobb people. If Cobb in the future supports overseas N54 then I might look at them if ESS has no more improvements/benefits to make.

Exactly.

I had the ESS for a while, and when it worked it was good. As good as the Evotech flash I got afterwards, and not as good by far as the GIAC stage 2 flash that I'm running now.

As enrita already mentioned, I sent me DME to Regal Autosport in Southampton. Very friendly service, quick turnaround.
