My dream has come true!
Hi guys, I've lurked for a few months now as I've been searching for my first and perfect BMW. Well, I picked it up on Monday. 08 335i coupe, 6MT, Black Saphire, Coral Red, Prem, sport, nav......I am in complete and utter love. Unfortunately the weather sucks...i will post pics when I can.
Question...I want to get an iphone 4 cradle. Do I need to go to dealer? I want to get tints....any local shops worth recommending? What are the must-have mods? I read stuff about reflectors, kidneys...what are these? thanks guys! Jeff |

MUST HAVE MODS: Really depends on what route you want to go... You will fit into one of these categories:
1) Performance Modder (I want to most I can get out of my car's performance, I am a dyno queen and track master) I am a Sleeper, the unsuspecting car that will rip you a new one. 2) Aerokits and exterior Modder (My car is drop dead sexy and if you say anything different, F U) All those stickers must make me fast 3) Performance and Exterior Modder (I will blow you away, my car is so sexy and so fast that it was too much for Fast and the Furious) I am all bling and plenty of blam, my car has the power to back up the looks SO which one are you?

Thanks for the quick replies, guys. I will most likely fall somewhere in between, with maybe minor performance and minor exterior mods. I am coming from a heavily modded VW GTI mkv, and I spent a lot of money and time at my local tuner (in PA). Almost felt like i was spending more time there and less time actually just enjoying my car.
So, im going to take it slow. I like the black kidney idea. So what color reflectors do most guys use? color matched? where can i purchase? any advice on tint? how much and where? |

I just go to a local shop around my way in the S. Bronx for tinting... Have yet to get my X5 tinted though... (Time management) As for the Kidney grills... You have a few choices out there for vendors... good site to check for OEM parts is getbmwparts.com (it's the internet parts department for Tischer BMW in MD). Prices are pretty good, I've ordered from them multiple times and delivery is pretty quick. You can also Plasti-dip the grilles you have... There is a DIY on here somewhere... A few members have done it with good results... You can pick up the Plasti-dip at Home Depot... As for the reflectors... I dunno...

#3 here all day.. OP get a procede not a jb3/jb4, as for exterior mods, mod it to be the car it is (a 335) not something it's not (M3). Don't get a million m3 exterior parts, there are plenty of 335 parts that look amazing

LETS NOT turn this into a tuner war thread... Both tunes have their advantages and disadvantages (based of the fanboi perspective). The OP needs to do his research and choose the right piggyback or flash tune that he wants.
Best Piggies: JB4 From BMS or Procede V4/V5 from Vishnu (Do your research OP) Best Flashes: COBB is the hot one right now, GIAC, DINAN, ESS, OEtuning, the list just keeps going and going... like the bunny...

Been on this forum since 07... Have had SSTT, Procede, JB, AA, and finally Helix. Procede is by far the most advanced of all of the piggybacks. Terry does a good job with customer support though. All the juicebox boys made fun of CANBUS on the procede for a year until they added it to jb... What separated most people originally was the price. Now that they are so similar, the choice is real clear.
Long story short, if you are only going to tune and not going to get supporting mods that require some form of custom tuning (Downpipes, Intercooler, Meth, etc.) than look into Cobb or ESS. Their flash devices are very simple to use and are much easier to remove prior to a dealership visit. |
