New Firmware Update for All BMW AccessPORTs
A new firmware update is available for all BMW AccessPORTs. This update adds support for a couple of ECUs that were not covered in the last release as well as fixes some minor issues with automatic transmission equipped vehicles relating to throttle hesitation and shifting issues. It also adds new features to the AccessPORT for DTC code reading and clearing of all modules in the vehicle as well as OEM ROM backup should the original AccessPORT be broken or lost. New Features The AccessPORT now allows all BMW users to download, store and backup the OE ROM to their PC or MAC for later use. This ensures that the original ROM found on the ECU can be reinstalled in the event that the original AccessPORT unit is lost, damaged or otherwise compromised. BMW AccessPORT users can now reload this ROM using any AccessPORT installed on their car. DTC codes for any module in the vehicle can now be cleared and reset with the AccessPORT. This includes all control units peripheral to the DME/ECU. The AccessPORT can now be used to scan and reset any trouble code present on the vehicle. New ROMs This update now adds functionality to the following ROMs. If you are still waiting for support, update to this firmware version and install your AccessPORT.
This update addresses the odd shifting behavior and throttle response hesitation present on some automatic transmission equipped vehicles. Updating the AccessPORT firmware and flashing one of the included maps will fix these issues. *Note* If you have not already updated to firmware version 1.6.3.2-1275, you must first uninstall your AccessPORT before updating to this latest release version 1.6.3.2-1300. If you have already updated your AccessPORT to 1.6.3.2-1275 firmware, you may update your AccessPORT firmware normally without uninstalling. Simply plug the AccessPORT into your computer, launch AccessPORT Manager, and click the Updates button in the top icon bar. |

Dear Cobb, what's the difference between the v200 and v201 maps that I now have a choice between? I felt like the v201 map felt a little more aggressive, but it might just be my new tires...

I believe it was to address the bucking and harsh shifting that some 6AT guys with certain ECU ID's were experiencing. Waiting to here feedback from those that have installed who were experiencing this to see what the changes felt like and maybe have some logs up (Before and After).

Nice update for me, I had a slight case of the 6AT issues.
A suggestion for posting future updates: might want to use a more distintive title for your thread as there could be dozens of them over the following years. |

COBB Tuning keeps rolling with another minor firmware update for all BMW vehicles. This latest firmware version adds one more ECU ROM to the list of supported vehicles.
Firmware version 1.6.3.2-1303 adds the following ECU support:

Not all map upgrades will alter tuning. Typically we will do this only to address an issue or take advantage of new tuning capabilities etc. The v.201 maps address shifting issues with automatic vehicles. We have not altered the base tune as it were. Thanks for the suggestions guys! We will keep the new updates coming!

Kudos to Cobb for staying on top of customer support like this. They identified the issue on Sunday, had a map to me and another user with the same issue the next morning, and rolled it into an update for all right after. That some damn fine turnaround IMHO

I was getting some boost surging with the 1275 firmware. In manual mode 2nd, 3rd, 4th gear didnt really matter. WOT and the car would accelerate, hesitate, accelerate, hesitate, ect. I monitored the boost and it would go 11, 4, 10, 4, ect. Needless to say i updated to 1300 and it has gotten a lot better, havent gone for a full drive yet but in the little bit i did it didnt seem to be nearly as bad (may not be there at all, need to do more driving).
That being said i am getting some weird noises after start occasionally (like a humming, whining from the engine, not normal noise) with some very erratic idling right after start. If i shut the car down and restart it goes back to normal. Anyone else have anything like this happen lately. (Of note it has been 20 degs lately, my first experience with this car at these temps) 2010 E90 6AT.

Whats the latest map for the AP now? I just updated my Accessport to the latest firmware but it didn't bring in new maps. Still shows V101
Is there a ETA on maps for cars with exhausts/intakes etc...? Also, I was just thinking about this today. Some of the later bmw software had "fixes" in them to help with the long cranking issues that plagued this car. Supposedly the software primed the fuel pumps the instant you unlocked the car. All i know is that after I got my software updated the car did indeed feel different during start up. Since the Cobb software is a complete rewrite, was this included in your programming? Thanks, Alan

Updated firmware will contain the new maps, however the updated firmware (1.6.3.2-1303) is still in beta. I will be promoting the new firmware from beta to release today or Monday. Keep in mind this update requires you to uninstall and reinstall. Cheers, Rob |
