JB4 + DCI Installed
Just got in from installing a beta JB4 and a dual cone intake from BMS.
First off, I haven't driven it yet because it's currently raining ice, but as soon as I do I will update this thread. Figured I'd give a little background on my install... I got the unit today, and immediately headed out to the garage after work. It was about 27 degrees when I got out there so I turned on a space heater that did a bunch of nothing. Started at 6, ended around 10. I won't be one of the guys who tries to pretend I spent time doing a bunch of other stuff.. it just took me 4 hours. . About 20 minutes looking at the manual and the rest messing with stubborn things and inexperience working on BMWs. I had a friend help but he has no experience with them either. It's also rough doing small tasks in cold weather like this... moving little bolts gets tough. Anyhow 4 hours later the PITAs were: The filter closest to the firewall The ECU Connectors(if you just READ the directions and aren't holding the things you're reading about.. it can be confusing) The stupid green connector for a power tap Ohio weather. Overall the install was easy and I'm impressed, the parts all look quality and I can't wait to drive the car soon... Last edited by rickdeaconx; 01-18-2011 at 11:19 PM.. |

Congrats.. Nothing wrong with taking your time first time around. It will be alot easier next time around. I can do installs within 20-30min now lol.
Your gonna enjoy the power of your car!! Its so much better and fun to drive with the Jb4. Default comes with Map1 which is sutiable for 91/93 octane stock cars. Map2 is for more modified cars or a realy agressive 93 octane map. |

Very excited.
The ice isn't too bad.. I've been doing this for awhile now. It's more sleet. Point being I still can't have TOO much fun. Maybe tomorrow |

I will be running Map2, since it is not a daily and 93 octane is widely available. We actually had 94 at most places up until last year.
I am also 10 minutes away from 100 unleaded. I also plan to take the car to the dyno for some pulls. It is completely stock besides the DCI + JB4. 07 335i Coupe 6MT RWD - for those keeping track. |

I've got a DCI installed and I'm waiting for my JB4 to get here. It should be in Monday according to Mike@N54Tuning. Unlike Ohio, here in south Texas it's in the 60's with clear skies
I'm planning to get some dyno pulls done by the end of the month showing DCI and Map 0 (stock passthrough), Map 1 and Map 2 on 93 octane pump gas. I'm shooting for 340 rwhp on map 1 and 360 rwhp on map 2. BTW, the car is a 2007 335i E90 6AT Sport Package. |

Took a cruise today... the ECU probably has not adapted at all.
But the car does not get any traction... and the streets are dry(yet cold). Third gear...no traction. But the gauge hijacking is awesome, and changing the maps and etc is super easy. I'm very excited for warm weather. |

Glad your enjoying the JB4! The ECU should be adapted after 4-5 runs. I'm pretty sure once the weather clears up, you will be able to feel all the power of the JB4.
