Intercooler install....
I recently tried to upgrade my fmic and picked one up used on the forum. With the understanding that anything is better than stock.... I grabbed an xo2 6 inch core. Its a knock off of the spearco from turbonetics and I must stay that the outside welds look pretty good. I was wondering if there is any type of reset besides the ecu reset to get this system tuned for the bigger unit.
I am running jb4 and reset everything accept the throttle valve adaption because of the headache associated with getting it done correctly, clearing the codes, and not having the car rev violently when its done incorrectly. I have got it right a few times but only after several tries. I am about .5 on average below the target boost limit when with the stocker I may have averaged .2. Terry says it should be the other way around. That the larger, more efficient unit should reach target quicker and more consistently. I have blown some oil out of the unit and it was banged up pretty good when I got it. When I shake it there is no rattles or anything. Where or how could a leak develop in a unit like that? and do I need to do the throttle valve adaption to get the boost up?l

Best way to reset valve adaption I found is to do the following sequence..
Reset Valve adaptations. Start Car. Turn Off Car. Key out 1 min. Ignition on for 10 seconds. Start Car. **** ON a side note I barely follow that whole bit. I usually just reset it once... Start Car.. Shut car off, turn back on, and if the throttle goes wacky, I just reset it again and its fine. **** On a second side note, maybe you have a boost leak. |

Resetting the ECU can be done as simple as unplugging the battery. Its generally in the instructions of any mod that you ad. Im sure you did it when you put in your tune.
I like to reset the throttle valve when the car doesn't seem to be functioning properly, prob something that will cause more issues than good for most. Boost target was a bit low and the car was laggy as hell. I didn't want to believe that the fmic that I bought was a pos. As for a leak... I went over the works all the way to the fmic inlet pipe. I assume that the connection to the turbos should be solid so I didn't check that far. I would bet the farm that something inside that xo2 isn't right. I am soaking the fmic trying to get all the oil out and what I noticed was that when I put some liquid in it ( I used denatured alcohol) to clean it out that when I tip it back and forth... it takes a few second for the fluid to slosh from the inlet tube to the outlet tube. I have no clue what core looks like really or how it functions. Anyone know if say a 1/2 a cup of oil would cause a 1 psi drop in boost?
