Any n55 intake systems close to production??

I find it very odd that an intake system has not yet been produced for the n55 engine. Is there any company with a prototype in testing or anyone close to making one yet???

I think the issue is that the factory airbox isn't restrictive in the n55 application. At least until upgraded turbocharges are available.

One problem is that when BMS did a dyno without the airbox lid (so no filter at all), the N55 lost about 20whp. It seems the presence of a MAF sensor in the N55 does make aftermarket intakes difficult to do.

The N55 MAF is in the oval intake tract so close to the filter box that any change in the shape of the pipe or filter will change the way air flows in the MAF.
any turbulece change will induce a different MAF reading for the same air flow, the DME is fooled and less power could result.

Maybe JB3 os procede could correct the altered (by the intake) MAF reading.

Unfortunately the N55 can't rely only on the TMAP sensor (N54 does) to calculate the air flow (this is the engine CHARGE) because there is no throttle blade, so no way to measure the vacuum in the intake manifold when running in the N/A phase (light gas pedal input)

why do you guys keep mentioning the maf?

Numerous cars are made with maf's, most are....and short rams, or cai's are ready for them. 350z,g35s,tl type-s,rx-8,mini cooper,e46 m3.....so whats your guys point, my father has a viper gts 2002 with a short ram installed. He grabbed 10 whp and 8 wtq, With the "problem designed maf". Dont tell me bmw designed special maf, nevver before seen on the radar screen..... i wouldnt be surprised. They are really closing the gaps on us tuning our cars.
