Must be why they use it in F1 as their tires and pressure are a huge part of suspension. Tire temps and therefore pressures are critical.

My dealer does the Nitrogen for $30 with free lifetime fill-ups. I paid for it, but even if it's total BS I still got some really awesome chrome stem caps with the green "N" logo that would have cost me a least $15 if I bought them off the shelf. I figure for the extra $15 for lifetime fill-ups it not that bad of a deal. The gas station by my house cost $.75 a pop to use their air compressor.

I have it in my car as well as my wife's X3. Beforehand my wife's car was constantly throwing low tire pressure warnings, haven't had but one in the three years since.

Yes hydrogen ftw!!! Lightest element of all = least unsprung weight. Hell with all 4 tires filled with that stuff it'll even take a few pounds off your car!!! Your car will be a virtual Hindenberg of efficiency! What could go wrong??? Lol

Seriously though, we Americans are so spoiled we are starting to pay for AIR.

$70 bucks?! You could prob go to PRAXXAIR buy your own bottle, regulator with hose and filler for under $100 and it would last for hundreds of fill ups.

Dry air and nitrogen change pressure the same amount under the constant gas laws. If you want to use nitrogen go right ahead. It does not offer any advantage what so ever over dry air which as noted by many is 78% nitrogen to start.

A tire can't be properly evacuated to be filled with nitrogen without dual valve stems as used by F1 race teams so there will always be some plain old "air" left in a tire even after it is filled with nitrogen. Your car will not ride, handle and perform any difference with air or nitrogen in the tires. The change in tire pressure with temp changes, will be the same with dry air and nitrogen.

As long as you know the facts, you can make an informed decision if you want pretty green valve stem caps for >$30+ or if 78% air works for you.
Why do they use it in F1?

Convenient, if you live very close to your dealer. I'm not driving 20 miles to top off the air in my tires. I have a compressor in my garage for that.
