Anyone tried SE P990i with E90 ??
I am planning to upgrade my p910i to p990i. Looking for first hand reviews of bluetooth integration with E90.
As p910 was not able to completely pair up with E90 (address book & call list syn. was missing). Did Sony Ericsson fixed it ?? Did anyone try it? Please chime in.. |

i also am waiting for a p990. there are issues with the battery right now. shortage on the right battery, all p990s come with the not as good battery. my w900 pairs PERFECT with the car, and fixes all the issues i had with my p910. so im 99.9999% sure that the p990 would be both a GREAT phone and work perfect. where do you plan on purchasing it?

I seriously doubt if it will work. There's trouble connecting symbian phones.
I had a M600i and it did not work either.

P990 - does not have EDGE or American 3G
you guys need to be carefull with P990.
Although I think that it'll pair with BMW (it has similar bluetooth profiles as SE phones that pair), those of you who are planning to use it in the USA need to realize that it does not have EDGE, only GPRS and European frequency 3G that will not work over here even when Cingular turns 3G on here it will be 850 or 1900 not 2100 MHz as it is in Europe, so if you plan to use Internet, it'll be very slow.

I will order it online. There are few storefonts on 'pricegrabber.com'
and then there is famous 'ebay.com'. I got my p910 couple of years ago from UK seller on ebay. I will tap him again. I see a lot of wholesalers on Ebay in US with this phone. so it may not be difficult to get a genuine one. I seriously hope that they fix the issue of address book over bluetooth. Other then that P910 paired up perfect everytime & sound quality was great. And so will be P990i, but somehow I feel address book issue may not get resolved. Lets hope. PS. I am itching to get P990 for a long due handset upgrade & new features. Quote:

So I m hoping, I WILL BE able to take avantage of internet over my phone using 3G/EDGE when it becomes available on right frequency. For now, I can use WLAN to access internet & GPRS occasionally. Also some of other features such as 2 MP dual camera, inbuilt active sync support, and check about new symbian OS. |

UPDATE
I could not resist P990i and ordered one.
And ironically it is not compatible with BMW factory bluetooth module. Here is what happens... The phone pairs & is able to see car bluetooth. Both (phone & car) lets you enter passkey & then after they never are able to connect. So the common sense suggests that the 'Handsfree Profile' in both bluetooth modules are not compatible. Called up BMW USA & found out that car has 'HFP (Hands Free Profile)1.0' From internet search found somwhere that P990i uses 'HFP 1.5' So it looks like HFP 1.5 may not be backward compatible with 1.0. Wrote a mail to SonyEricsson about asking them about HFP 1.0 in P990. Here is their reply... ------------ Dear BMW06, Thank you for contacting Sony Ericsson Online Support. Regarding your inquiry about whether the P990i model will support the HFP 1.0 profile, at this point there are no plans of doing so. The Bluetooth abilities of the P990i are described in the user guide. Currently we have no information if later on there will be a software upgrade which would enable the phone to support HFP 1.0, but it is unlikely. As part of Sony Ericsson's commitment to excellent customer service, we offer a wide variety of mobile products to suit your lifestyle. If you require more information, or have any other questions, please visit our website at http://www.sonyericsson.com or call us at 1-866-766-9374. Best regards, Claudia Your Sony Ericsson Online Support Representative Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications ----------- Thought that I will sum up my finding here. I may be on a wrong track here, please correct me. I am not up-to-date on Bluetooth technology. For me, I will wait for couple of weeks when SE comes up with another firmware update & try my luck. And then either keep my P190i or move on to another phone with a heavy heart... |

I wanted to get the P990i since I have (and love) a P910i I guess I'll have to stick with my work cell for the time being |

I too have had reliable success with my P910. But, I'm wondering how it 'would' sync if it could. I have >1000 contacts. Does it just look for changes or can you control when a sync takes place?
BTW, the 990 has had some pretty negative reviews. I expect they will 'update' it in the New Year. |
