Treadlife of a Snow Tire?
I am getting ready for a roadtrip this weekend of about 850 miles with my winter set up on the car that got me thinking about the life I can expect from my snow tires. I picked up some used Blizzak LM-25 non RFT in size 205/50/17 mounted on sport edition A7 wheels for my first winter in a RWD vehicle, and performance-wise no problems with about 70" of snowfall to date. And after about 2,000 miles this winter season, I have used less than 1/32nd of tread since switching them over. So if I estimate 1/32nd = 2.5-3k miles, 11/32nd on a new tire, and replacement at 6/32nd for optimal winter traction, I would guess these tires to be very effective for 15-18k of winter use from new....
I would appreciate feedback from others who can comment based on their experience with new tires driven over a couple of seasons. Please let me know the model tires, miles driven, and when you replaced. Thanks!
