He was actually close, twice, to buying a Chevy Dealer but back away both times. In hindsight, a wise decision. I am very intersted in buying a dealership one day as well(probably not GM though).
I have gone to the factory in Bowling Green with him and walked down the assembly line as his car was built. I even got to do some of the jobs. It was a very cool experience. |

Why would he want 3 from the same model year? They keep breaking or something?

I have to respond every time I see this comment, it's a total misconception.
Anyway, I do see an issue if you live in Manhattan. First, you're probably spending a significant portion of your income for housing, therefore it matters how much the car is every month. I can't justify a new car every 2 years no matter what, but if that's your position then it does make a lease a better move imho. I can never condone leasing, simply cannot. The allowance I'm making here is the fact that the car is in Manhattan. C'mon now, your apt. costs what a $1 million home's mortgage does 24 miles out in north Jersey. It could get very ridiculous to add a BMW car payment to that and not even be able to use it much. With that said, I've got 1600 on my car and owned it 8 days shy of 5 mos. But I'm planning on keeping it so I did a 5 yr. loan. |

Ok...my wife and I rent. We were looking to buy a 2 bedroom but put it on hold for fear of the Real Estate market. My rent is 3k. If I bought a place for arund 1.25, mortgage, common charges and taxes would be arund 8 grand total. We are putting those saving into the bank now.
As far as leasing...I scares me to on this type of a car in the city. It WILL get dingd, even though I park in a garage. If it was an X5, I would have considered it. Finally...My lease is a deduction to my business...so this is why I have gone the leasing route on the past couple of cars. |
