I got in my car tonight (320d) and when I released the handbrake the red light on the dash stays on, and the red car on ramp light comes on. The service info says 12000 miles for the rear pads and 18000 miles for the front pads and the brake fluid service was done about 11 months ago and isn't due again until next year.
Anyone got any ideas as to what it is/could be? Car sounds, feels and drives normally

Thats the routine inspection due notice I think.
Is it three years old or so?

If its not due MOT, then you are required to book in in at a dealer.
they will 'inspect' it and bill you around £100 for the priviledge.

I might be that it is just a health check, unless you are bothered about the stamp in the log just get it reset.
The MOT covers most of the checks, common sense with fluid levels should cover the rest.

The ramp icon just means get me to your dealer.
It may indeed be related to the other error.
Is the brake fluid very low?

What about the handbrake light constantly being on though on the dash? Does that tie in with it just being a standard check?
