Does US and Canada have different programs for cars?
I have an 07 335i (us vehicle), I called a dealership and inquired about the oem alarm. He asked me if I had the Canadian Cluster? (i don't) and he said that they could not install the alarm unless i had the canadian cluster due to the fact that the oem alarm needs the updated flash/program for it too work. He said that canada and us is different. I would have to go to the states and do it there......
he also said that if I ever needed any work done that required the updated program I would not be able to do it here...because the computer would "crash" Has anyone heard of this? Basically if something goes wrong with the car, I will have to go to the states to get it fixed due to the difference in programs? However if I get the canadian cluster, everything is ok. Thanks for the help... |

US vehicle service in canada?
I have spoke to Dim sum.....I will need to speak to him again....anyways called three dealerships and they all confirm once you update the program which is necessary....codes will be thrown due to cluster....thus anytime an error code comes up or anything they will not be able to fix due to cluster.....interestingly...one dealer quoted 2200 another 1400 for cluster.
has anyone with a us vehicle had any work done on their car in canada? any problems etc...with clearing codes. or servicing vehicle? |
