Question Let the pothole seasons start

I get very agitated by potholes these days. Yesterday when I drove by a mall, suddenly a kid crossed the street. I had to quickly turn left to avoid hitting that kid but then my rear left tire hit a deep pothole instead.

My car still drives OK but I am paranoid that something may go wrong.

Are there some sort of checklists what to check mechanically with my car upon deep pothole encounters? Thank You

You must've been driving pretty fast in a mall parking lot if you had to swerve instead of being able to come to a complete stop...

I'm not saying....I'm just saying...

I hit a massive pothole the other day on McKnight Blvd -- so loud I thought that I did some damage.

Pulled over to check it out - rims intact, tires intact, tire Pressure OK.

Resumed driving - tracks straight, and no shimmy.

Short of taking the affected wheels off and having a look around, I don't think there is much else you can check..

I hit a pothole on the 401 around 400 exit and it did massive damage - i'm getting 4 new rims and 2 tires b/c of it. I'm also going to be submitting a claim to the MTO.

Sad if true. But then the OP just said "passing by a mall".. that does not necessarily imply a parking lot.

This is true and if it is in fact the case, my mistake.

Question

Yeah, I wasn't in the mall parking lot. I was on the street about to enter the highway when the kid suddenly crossed.

My worries are more in the areas of wheel bearings, strut towers, shock absorbers, etc.....

I think this is one of the worst years for potholes in awhile, what with the constantly changing temps from cold to warm to cold. I don't think I've seen this many potholes and cracked roads ever before.
