PC7424 Questions

Hi, I am fairly new to detailing and I was looking to invest in a PC7424. So far, I've found a couple of lightly used PC7424's around my area, but not of them are PC7424XP. What exactly are the differences between the two? (besides the 3.7amp as opposed to the 4.5amp) And also, if I were to buy backing plates and other accessories for the PC7424XP, would they be compatible on the regular PC7424? Thanks for looking. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you check out our product description of the Porter Cable 7424XP Random Orbital Buffer, it outlines some of the differences between the new and old unit. I'd recommend the new one since it has a bit more power and you'll have a warranty with it that protects you against any issues. You will need a backing plate and some pads to maximize the unit as well. With any DI Package that includes a buffer you can select any combination of pads you'd like by adding a comment in the comment field while checking out. I'd also suggest checking out some of these package deals:

Buffer and Pad(s)
DI Packages Porter Cable 7424XP 4" Basic Kit (lowest price)
DI Packages Porter Cable 7424XP 5.5" Starter Kit

Buffer, Pads and Polishes:
DI Packages Porter Cable 7424XP, Meguiar's Polishes and Hydro Pads Basic Kit (lowest price)
DI Packages Porter Cable 7424 XP, Meguiar's Polish and Hydro Pads

If you have any other questions please let me know.

Thanks Greg! I'll probably be placing an order on the Hydro basic kit sometime next week!
