push the button that opens up your drink holder, and then shove it in there, and close the drink holder... then press the DAS BOOT! key.

One thing I'm still missing is regarding the octane for these maps. I thought I read in the past that Shiv was making the maps using the CA 91 octane, and that better results could be had with a 93 octane map. So, what "premium fuel" are these maps designed for, 91 or 93? Will the map just compensate for whatever octane is in the car or will there be separate maps for 91/93?

The last I read, Shiv said the base map will automatically adjust from 91 octane up to 93 octane. All that is required is for you to drive the car and get into boost a few times.

We should have our online support forum up and running any day now. But being that there are already a whole slew of PROceded 335is running around, here are some goodies for the time being:

http://www.vishnutuning.com/Files/BM...er_Install.zip
This software is what users will use to upload maps into their PROcede. It is also used for datalogging, viewing, analysis, etc,. This software is new (just put it online on Friday). If you already installed PROcede software on your laptop before, replace it with this. When you uncompress it (using winRAR), just click on the "setup.exe" icon (see picture below) and the installation process will begin.

Also attached are three PROcede maps (also in .zip format). They are:

Stage Zero v1.2-- This is the map that just above every single PROcede user is running right now. It's is intended for a completely stock car. Either automatic or manual. Premium gas required. Maximum sustained boost pressure is 12psi, tapering down to 10psi by 6000rpm.

HP @ wheels: 310-330whp
TQ @ wheels: 360-380lbft

Stage 1 v1.2-- This is the map is intended for 335is with upgraded exhaust systems. Either automatic or manual. Premium gas required. Maximum sustained boost pressure is 12psi, tapering down to 10psi by 6000rpm.

HP @ wheels: 325-350whp
TQ @ wheels: 380-400lbft

Stock-- This map is basically reverts the car back to stock performance. Stock boost. Stock A/F ratio. Stock timing curves. Peak boost is 8psi, tapering down to 7psi by 6000rpm. Premium gas is required.

HP @ wheels: 265-275whp
TQ @ wheels: 275-285lbft

How to upload and download maps:

1) You need to get access to your PROcede's serial port connector. To do this, just pop off the passenger side bulkhead cover (the black plastic lid that is held on by 2 snaps). This will expose the ECU compartment lid. It is biege and is held on by 4 fasteners. Two of them are sliding locks (on front and back). The other two (left and right) are clips that need to be lifted up. Changes are, if you have a PROcede installed, you saw me do this and know what I'm talking about. If not, it will all be explained on the install vide which should be up online within the next couple of days. There is no need to remove the entire ECU compartment lid because this would necessitate taking the whole bulkhead cover and AC pollen filter off (which would require a 8mm wrench and another 3-4 minutes of time). Instead, just unfasten the fasteners that you can reach (the on in the front and the one on the left). This will allow you to simply lift on side of the lid up enough to reach in and plug in a standard DB9 serial cord into the serial port in your PROcede's harness. Run the other end of the DB9 cable to your laptop which should be loaded with the PROcede software. If your laptop doesn't have a serial port you will need to use a USB-to-serial adapter which you can buy anywhere for $10-15.

2) Run the PROcede user sofware. At the bottom of the screen you will see "PROcede offline". This means that there is no communication yet between your laptop and the PROcede. To get communication, go to the "Comms" menu and select "Go online/offline". You should see progress of 0-100% at the bottom of the screen. This will take a few seconds. Then it should say "PROcede connected."

3) At this point, you can upload new maps into your PROcede or you can download your existing map from your PROcede and save it to your HD somewhere. It is recommended that you save your current map first. To do this, go to "File" and select "Save as..." Pick a file name of your choice such as "John Smith Dyno Day map". With it saved, you can always put it back later if you need to. Now, to upload a new map into your PROcede, go to "File" and select "Open..." Select the file (you will need to unzip it first, of course). You'll see the 0-100% progress report at the bottom of the screen. This process of writing a map to your PROcede takes a bit longer (10 sec or so) than reading the map from your PROcede.

4) Now you're done. If you want, you can test to see if your car is performing as expected with the new map. Until the dyno and 1/4 mile emulation software is done, you can do this by monitoring boost pressure. Boost pressure may already be displayed at the top right (in the channel/value/units window). At idle, it should read around 0psi depending on your altitude. I've seen it read as high as 0.5psi at sea level or as low as -2.5psi at high altitude. Under boost, it should go higher. If you do not see boost pressure displayed in that window, just go to "Datalogging" and select "Channel Setup". Select "MAP" on the left scroll window. It should now appear on the right scroll down window. Select "OK." You should now see boost pressure in that window. There is other data that you can look at as well but that's for a later day and a later tutorial

Coming up next....
-how to take and view datalogs
