NEED some advice/input.. wastegate issues.. rattling noise

So my car was making a weird noise coming from the engine. I had my local bmw check this out and they said it looks like they need to replace the waste gates for the turbo's. To make this worse, I'm out of warranty.. I'm in the process of working something out as warranty just expired a month or two ago.. They might be able to cover all parts, but they want me to pay for labor (they said roughly about $1400) DOES THIS SOUND ABOUT RIGHT?.. is this a MUST replacement that I should do now?

Can you someone advice me.. car is at the dealer now and I'm trying to see what my options are..

Thanks

By the way.. they are telling me this is about a $4500 job ( labor is about $1400 and the rest is parts-replacement of the waste gates). Can someone please tell me if this is about right?.. If case be I need to pay for labor..is this reasonable? idk to me sounds pretty high.. just curious to get some ideas and options. Even though im out of warranty the might just take care of parts they said....I'm just wondering if this is something i should go for it..

Replace your wastegate? Internal or external gates?

Sounds about right........live with the rattle. Its not going to lead to failure or anything, and a tune could fix it.

The rattle is the play in the turbine housings. For 4500 you could have a set of RB turbos installed and be up on the HP game..

Procede will fix the problem and more :-) my car is actually at the dealers right now for the exact same problem... They said there is a bulletin telling them to re program the car, and if that doesn't work, they may need yo replace my turbo's... But if the watergate rattling came back while I was out of warranty, I would just upgrade turbos or get procede

Didn't MR5 post a DIY on adjusting the actuators to eliminate the rattle?
