Best Intake Option
Which is the best option when considering performance gains, sound (i like it loud), and cost. I am not even including the BMW Performance intake because it is way too overpriced for me.
1) Dinan intake kit 2) Euro Airbox conversion with KandN filter 3) Carbon filter delete with stock airbox and high flow filter 4) Injen Intake 5) AFE intake w/heat sheild I am planning on doing one of these to my 2007 328xi 6MT soon but i cant decide! PLEASE HELP |

So it may only give half (at a guess) of the full 3HP (as claimed by BMW for their performance intake) but its a lot cheaper $40 v $750 approx.
Gavin when will we see the latest on your supercharger conversion ? We are all getting impatient !! |

Very Very VERY soon, we're awaiting the final stuff to come back from machining. We dont have an in house CNC, wish I did, so we have to wait the turn time like everyone else. -_________- Back on topic - If you pair that intake with scoops, you will see a very real performance gain. and under real world driving, much more usable power through the RPM range, and cooler air temps. It doesn't offer the same sound as the BMW PI does, but like you said its basically the same power for the cost to ship the BMW PI alone |

Cheapest $50 - ugly stock box, carbon delete and k+n
Best design and sealed/CAI $400 - EURO intake More money - Dinan Most money - $900 BMW perf intake but uses stock box with carbon filter Worst - open elements, not sealed, no CAI, under hood heat hurts them - Injen, AFE Results from - 2-5HP to + 2-5HP |

So what exactly does the BMW Performance intake actually change if it's still using the stock air box?
How could BMW allow the Euro stock intake to equal or outperform the Performance intake? |

I have one, and It is about as closed as any cone filter I have seen on the market with just a small portion that is adjacent to the drivers side wheel well exposed, It sounds great, but it still suffers from heatsoak after a period of spirited driving. I would get rid of it for the stock box + carbon filter delete, but the cf under the hood is sexy and it sounds great I am going to mod my stock box soon enough, and I will swap betwen the two depending on my mood lol

the carbon filter delete is the black/gray looking piece that is in your stock intake. you simply cut that puppy out and drop a K&N in place of the stock filter. and you good to go.
the BMW PE does not use the stock box. it comes with a completely different box. however, the couple HP you may gain from it is not worth the money.... in my opinion. However, I almost bought it. haha. I will admit that, but after my failed AFE attempt.... I dont want to waste any more money on an intake.

Injen Dual Cone Intake
I have this one and it seems to provide a boost to my 335i. The only downsides I can find were the time to put it in and if you don't like to hear the turbo's spool up. I put the Procede V5 in first and drove around for a couple of days before adding this and it seemed to "unleash" the turbos. Boost went from 12 psi to 14.5 psi with the intake and some spirited driving. I personally like the sound change, but I am sure others might not.
