Made the classic mistake... Dealer washed it
I took my 2010 E90 in yesterday for it's first service. I thought "I should tell them not to wash it..." but, given the snow and weather we've had in NY, I decided a wash couldn't hurt.
I have Titanium Silver - so swirls would be hard to see anyway BUT somehow they put a number of small gouge marks in the weather stripping around the rear windshield. I'm not sure how they did it -- but they did. My car was literally flawless until I took it to the dealer... How frustrating... ![]() |

It is probably worse to have them wash it when it has snowed. I can imagine them reusing mitts/solution/towels that are full of sand and salt from washing other cars.

Avoid all of them. There are very few (if any) that wash cars properly.

It was at Hassel in Freeport NY. I'm actually there right now. They are claiming they didn't do it - which is really frustrating. They brought the manager out, he implied that I did it, then walked away. No apology at all.
The sales department was great but service is a complete joke at Hassel. |

All is not lost, you know the drill......Wash the car well using two-bucket method, then pull it into your garage for the full clay, polish, wax/seal treatment. Won't fix the gouges on the window seal, but your paint will look great - which is the most important. Last edited by Revelation19; 03-23-2011 at 05:52 PM.. |

So they refused to fix it... They told me to fix it would mean they would have to take out the window... I'm not even sure if that's true but, if it is, I'm not sure I'd want these guys doing it anyway.
I learned a lesson the hard way. It stinks though as the car was flawless and dressed from head to toe in Zaino and 303. Only to have it damaged at the one place where it should have been fine -- The BMW dealer! |

Unfortunately they would have to r/i the rear glass and install a new reveal moulding. Theyre not shitting you there. What i would do is ask them to run anothe car that you can visualy see doenst have any scrapes on the window mouldings through their "state of the art 8 gazillion billion mo million fo fillion dollar" car wash and see if the guinea pig comes out w the same gouges as yours.
![]() good luck and sorry ftl on the wash

i don't think it'd hurt to attempt to contact BMWNA and tell them what happened and they may be able to help out in having the problem fixed or at least have them force the dealer to rectify the situation.
