To mod or not to mod? (exhaust)

I have a 328i,
I was looking through the forum, reading and viewing pictures..

I am so thrilled by the things I see and want to mod my car.
but I am contemplating.. I know it may sound stupid but I am sure
many of you have gone through my stage..

I want my car to be faster, sound better and be nicer.
However the reason I bought 328i not 335 was because I did not
care about the speed or the power. I thought it would be waste of my money
to spend extra 5000 and get more power and spend more gas money for
something I cant push on streets..

I want to put better exhaust, put spoilers, intake, powerbox..
want to do so much to the car, but can't really justify myself..
I am planning on buying a m3 for my next car when the new models are out
probably in 2013 or 14...

I dont know if I should save up and just drive my car without much mod and use that money on the newer car or I should just spend it now and enjoy my ride the way I want it..

If i had millions of dollars, I would just mod this without thoughts but it's not the case.. I dont want to be spending $2~3000 on changing this and that and later on think to myself "wow, i just wasted my money on really nothing big.."

I know there will be few people who can't stop themselves to bash me because I do think it sounds stupid in a way, but this is the situation I am in right now and I am contemplating..

thanks always,

if it would make the ride more enjoyable and unique to you...then it will be worth it...i just got an 08 328xi and i priced out all my mods im going to do and its not even 3500...im just flat broke right now bc i paid off a loan and booked a vacation so ima do it little by little...but thats with front lip, spoiler, tints(lil on tails), new ae's(was gonna do oss but luis is ghost so ima just spend less n go with lux for now), fog bulbs, kidney grills, mms exhaust, carbon del/k&n drop in, and rims(prob m6 type)....also plan on a lil custom work like painting my breaks n what not but didnt acount for all that...lets say i have the mod itch and if and when im done i sunk 3k in my car i wont care bc itll be my car n ima have it for at the least 5 more years n enjoy every second of it

and evntually an aa tune...but i think iam wait till my warranty is dunzo so it never gets whiped out when i bring it in for service

Just make it look pretty with a lot of cosmetic work, suspension, wheels, ting, lighting, interior and you'll have yourself an above average 328 e92. Performance mods aren't worth the extra dollar since it doesn't really do much in horsepower, unless you get twin turbo... Exhaust, intake, powerbox, just gives you bragging rights, other than that, it's still considered to be in the cosmetic category.
