Looking to quiet down the car a bit.. exhaust recommendations?

I have PLM 3" DP's on the car right now with a CP-e exhaust and its just too loud for me. The exhaust quiets down a far bit when its warm but its still on the loud and buzzy side.

I have been told to add resonators in but I still can't stand the drone under light load at 2-2.5k. Its very loud, buzzy and unrefined sounding.

I have been looking around on YouTube and am still having a hard time trying to decide which way to go. Being unable to hear them in person, its the best bet I have.

I am looking for something in the middle range volume wise. Any suggestions from experience welcome.

Here's a video if my current setup

I have CPE and I am also catless...Before I installed resonators like alot of people recommended it sounded exactly like your car...The rasp was nasty and after adding the resonators the drone subsided...I would listen to me and weld in resonators...Remember I have CPE exhaust also with catless DPs..I bumped the thread for you...Before I took the advice of some fellow members on adding resonators, I hated the exhaust tone and the rasp...I was in the same shoe as you...I have videos on the thread of after resonator installed.

Notice the difference of your car revving the engine and my video..Its more tight and refined and there is no rasp...You would be very surprised without that rasp, how much better the exhaust note is...Drone is also minimized like I said!

Thanks for replying... only reason I am wavering on swapping it is because the tips are too short on my car. I believe the exhaust is for an e90.

Also, the two resonators/labor/tip adjustment would put me over 1k for the everything so I could pretty much pickup anything I wanted.

The drone on my car is SO loud. I didn't think resonators would really help with that?

Its your call man...All I know is before the resonators, my exhaust sounded exactly like your video...Notice you revved it so high and it drowned out the turbo spool whereas my video you can clearly hear the turbos spool because the resonators drowned out the rasp and cleaned up the tone of the exhaust...Resonators for a pair cost from 95-100 bucks for two...Much cheaper than getting a whole new exhaust...I was at the same spot you were in...Quiet exhaust would be the Rennhart with resonators...My friend has it and its pretty quiet..

I've heard the HPF exhaust is pretty tame. Might want to check them out...

bastuck and milltek are relatively tame exhausts, very quiet during cruising and low rpm, with a nice growl when you get on it about 3k rpm

no drone for sure on the bastuck, which i have been running for 2+ years

I've heard the same about the Bastuck and Milltek being on the more tame side so they would be solid options. I would also throw AMS into the running. I am currently running the AMS exhaust with AR catless DP's and my car is fully wife approved. I actually shot a somewhat long and boring video to demonstrate how quiet the exhaust is from the inside when you want it to be.

Normal type exhaust vid

^^ Those vid's sound great, but with catless DP's the volume increases exponentially.

I bet I could fit a large resonator in there on the 3" mid section...hmmm

Thanks for your input.

The sound you want can be achieved with your DP's and stock exhaust..

The RennArt is tame, I heard one in person. I almost swapped my vanguard out for it but decided not to sell my brand new vanguard, lose money and buy a used RennArt.

Although it was the stock dp's in those vids, it honestly didn't much if any louder to me after I put the catless AR's on. I really need to make another video though.

Good luck with your decision
